The Government
Beijing's problems are solved by the government so if the government doesn't do anything about the problems the problems will not be solved but these are the ways that they are fixing some of the problems.
PROBLEM 1 - OVERPOPULATION
Beijing is heavily overpopulated for the size that it is which causes many problems. There are some ways that they have tried to fix their population problems, these include the government introducing the law of one child per family. Beijing however, has a small exception to this law, which is that if one of the parents is an only child the family can have two children but if you have more children then you are allowed you will be fined. Beijing also gets a lot of immigrants which makes a lot more people in the city and they do not help the city at all because they take minimum wage jobs and do not pay their taxes. The government has started to deal with the problem of immigrants.

PROBLEM 2 - AIR POLLUTION
|
Air pollution is Beijings' biggest problem. It is so bad that scientists are calling it a nuclear winter which is when a whole city is covered by a layer of darkness and smoke. Beijing is the second most polluted megacity in the world. Beijing does not pass the World Health Organisation health protection guidelines. It is bad for a humans lungs to inhale too much smoke so the city has been called nearly uninhabitable by Shanghai’s academy of science. The air pollution is caused by exhaust
emission from Beijing's more than five million motor vehicles, coal burning in
neighbouring regions, dust storms from the north, local construction dust and because Beijing burns so much coal it creates a lot of smoke. To fix the problem many things have been done, these include over 100 of Beijing's factories being
shut down to try and prevent some of the air pollution. They have also been trying to be get rid of air pollution by not allowing polluting cars into Beijing and by getting rid of a lot of their coal power plants and replacing them with renewable energy sources. The air pollution causes the air to be full of smog all day which makes it harder to see. It also makes the
plants have difficulty to photosynthesise which threatens the food production
and will eventually make people starve.

PROBLEM 3 - TRAFFIC CONGESTION
In Beijing there is a lot of traffic congestion which is caused because in there is a lot of traffic in the same place at one time and because there are so many cars which leads to traffic jams. So to fix this problem Beijings government had the idea of a ring road which was made of one ring road but as the population increased more people got cars and they had to make another ring road to fit all of the cars. They then made a second one and so on until now they are currently making the seventh one. This will be the last one because it already will exceed beijings city limits and if they tried to make another one they would not have any room. The government have also tried to reduce the traffic congestion by introducing the subway which travels to the whole of Beijing.

Problem 4 - Homelessness
In the south of Beijing hundreds of homeless people can be found who consist mainly of migrants from the countryside and people in search of better jobs. The ways that this problem has tried to be fixed are the government making provisions for the homeless people like food and water and they have also made centres where the homeless can stay for a short length of time. However, a lot of the homless people say that they avoid the centres because they believe that they will be sent back to the old place that they came from. A man by the name of Zhang Shihe is a blogger who has spent his money to buy them clothing and also with the donations of other people he has raised money to buy small apartments for people.
